Which dogs should not climb stairs?

Dogs that have extra-long backs, such as Dachshunds, Corgis and Bassett Hounds, should take extra care, or avoid taking the stairs if possible.

Any dog can be afflicted with back problems due to injury, age, or overexertion, but, certain dog breeds are somewhat predisposed to certain types of spinal trouble. Some breeds of dog are prone to experiencing acute cases of intervertebral disk disease, particularly dogs with long bodies and short legs.

Even when they have to jump into the car, for example, give them a helping hand. Not only for dogs with long backs and short legs, if they are older and a bit stiff, it is also good to help them!
